create new folder for each TV show when recordign begins...
I've been looking all over for a setting to do this. Hopefully I'm just missing it.
I have "D:\myvideos" setup as the master recording destination for TV recordings. Let's say for example I'm about to start recording "Monk", can STV create a folder for the show called "Monk", so that all episodes will automatically end up being saved in the "D:\myvideos\Monk" folder? Thanks for any help. Respectfully, - Ian Former Meedio & GBPVR User Last edited by ianscrap; 07-29-2011 at 10:59 AM. |

I guess I'd ask the follow up question: Why do you want your files stored this way?
There might be an alternate way of doing something with those files that you hadn't thought of. This assumes, of course, that you actually want to do something to some of those files, rather than just keep a tidy looking file listing. Matt

Well, I guess I was just used to the way GBPVR would store all of the TV files. It's really no big deal, I just thought it would be easier to submerge my self into a new product quicker if there was commonality to the way things were setup.
But I guess that sounds kind of reluctant or something. Well, I've made this purchase, so I guess I'll just start getting used to the STV way of going about it. Thank you for both of your replies. I do appreciate it. Respectfully, - Ian Last edited by ianscrap; 07-29-2011 at 10:59 AM. |

Welcome to Sage! I too am a recent GBPVR convert.
I was a little reluctant to convert over but I have found a way to add all of the GBPVR functionality (plus a lot more in sage). So far the only big minus for me in Sage vs GBPVR is that I used to be able to stream internet radio to my MVPs. I was thrown off by the single directory too but now I actually like it better, Please let me know if I can be of any help in converting over from GBPVR. I think I'm going to open a thread on how to move over to Sage from GBPVR. Head over here if you have any tips to add on converting over: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...705#post237705 Last edited by gexi; 09-12-2007 at 03:25 PM. |

Obviously, this scenario would make it difficult to maintain seperate sub-folders for each series. However, once you get used to it, it's rather nice. The only downside is if you copy files from your recording directory to another device (like a laptop or video player) for disconnected viewing. You may already be aware of this; just wanted to point it out in case you'd overlooked it. Stu |

Thanks to all of your responses. I have no doubt that STV is my best option for a PVR package. I have no regrets about purchasing it. From the testing I've been doing with it the past couple of days, it actually better than I even hoped for.
The only regret I do have is that I didn't buy it sooner. I was trying to survive and pretend to myself that I was going to be better off with a free or abandoned-ware solution. There may be a place for something like that, but there's no more room on my system for a freeVR. Have a great night. TTYL, - Ian Last edited by ianscrap; 07-29-2011 at 11:00 AM. |
