FIX for problem with Plextor 402U and 6.2.10 Release...
I just installed the 6.2.10 release this morning, and everything went smoothly - HD playback was fine, etc. My final tests were just to make sure capturing was working (I use to Plextors, capturing via their Svideo input), and I got 'No Signal' messages. I then went into the setup, removed the device, added it back in, but when I selected the input and it was trying to preview, I got the warning -6: 0x80070491. I rebooted, tried again, same result. I went back to the previous 6.0 release I had made a backup of, and it works fine. Any thoughts? There aren't any new drivers for the Plextor (PX-TV402U), nor have they released any in years. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as the new version looks really slick and I'd like to be running it!

I suggest contacting SageTV tech support about this issue with your Plextor.

Still Problemtic though
So I did a clean install of XP Pro, with all critical, and optional updates. Installed the Drivers for the Plextor, plugged it in and it configured correctly. Installed SageTV 6.2, and replaced the DShowCapture.dll, and fired it up. Went through the configuration and received the following error message...
"There was a Playback Error in playback. Details: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x80040217): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback." Ideas? Thanks in advance. |

Adendum...
So after the system I described in the last post I decided to try SageTV6.2 and the plextor an a different system and with the provided DLL was able to both record and playback MPEG-2 recorded video without the for mentioned error. So there is some codec or update that the first system lacks.
The card seems to function exactly as expected until you record anything in MPEG-4. Any Mpeg-4/Divx will.... A. Not playback in live TV mode. B. Plays back at some abnormally high framerate/speed (people talk as fast as chipmunks, but not at higher pitch) Post Ideas and I'll try them out and try to come up with a how-to for a SageTV/Plextor setup. Thanks you guys. Sage is the best. |

sage 6.2.10 bug with plextor convertx tv402u
sage tech support has acknowledge the bug and said they will fix in 6.2.30
in the mean time, 5.0.4 at http://download.sage.tv/SageTV_V5_0_4Setup.exe http://download.sage.tv/SageTVClient_V5_0_4Setup.exe works. |

Sorry to chew the ears with this one. Don't stress about it though, I guess I'm willing to wait for 6.2.30 though, no sense in waisting time on old versions of the program. |

6.3.5 And it is still doing this
Just wanted to point out that this problem still persists in the new version. MPEG4/DIVX Plays back at some abnormally high framerate/speed (people talk as fast as chipmunks, but not at higher pitch)
Though there is no need for the dll in the new release, as mpeg 2 records and plays properly. I'm game to try anything, so let me know and I'll report back with findings. PS. Kudos on the release of the the HD media extender. Can hardly wait until they are in stock. |
