m1abrams,
I posted that blog post, but to be honest all of the info in the blog post came from these forums including the photos. I just put it all in one place to help spread the SageTV love

I changed the thread title to reflect that this contains links to other sites. All of the HD extender info & photos came from the SageTV Media Extender section of this forum.

Here's another outside link: STX-HD100 mention on EngadgetHD

Quite True. Just getting the message out to the masses using my blog

One article you might really enjoy that was posted today at Chris Lanier's Blog:
SageTV Excels As Microsoft Fails

A quote from Chris's Article:
Quote:
Microsoft and their partners need to take a long look at what SageTV is doing, much of it should have been part of Media Center for a while now. Congratulations to SageTV on a job well done thus far, and we all are looking forward to see what is delivered in the final product.
Chris is a Media Center enthusiast and Microsoft MVP so his praise is notable I think.

I think Sage is winning a lot of praise all around for listening to their customers and trying to serve up what the customer asks for. That is why Microsoft and Snapstream has been sliding in this space vs. SageTV IMHO.

You can copy/paste this directly if you don't wish to create your own text.

I don't know whether it is supposed to process the vB tags inside the [code] tags or not, but if you use the [noparse] tag, you get:

Nice looking HDTV extender.
Being deaf myself I sure hope it will be able to do closed caption.

SageTV HD Extender STX-HD100 Review

Brent Evans reviews the HD100. I was surprised to not see this posted here yet.

Seems like a fair review, and he likes it! Can't wait for mine.

It is only surprising if you haven't seen the references to it above & the same post in another topic in the extender forum section...

Seems like an odd place to put a link to the review of the HD Media Extender, in the General Discussion forum rather then the Media Extender forum.

My bad.

This topic was here already & he posted the link in the middle of another topic in the extender forum, so I copied it here shortly after it was posted so it would be in both places.

Wired posted a quick review of the HD Extender today. It was short, but mostly positive.

Wow, a fairly positive review from someone who seems to be trying Sage for the first time. Very nice

The Dallas News has a decent write-up on the SageTV HD100 extender. The reviewer praised the extender, but was kind of hard on the difficulty of getting SageTV set up.

Bottom line: A worthy entry into the media extender category.
My opinion only: I mostly agree with the writeup. I'd like to see a few new features in the SageTV core and then see a big focus in making things easier to set up. "Dumb down" the installation process as much as possible to make SageTV easier and easier to get set up.

Along those lines of making things easier to setup, I've been working on an editorial blog post that ponders (almost suggests) that SageTV make a pre-built server box. One that is fairly simple plug & play type device with server capability. Add this along with the extender and you have a device that will be more attractive to the Tivo turn-it-on-and-it-works crowd. Yes, many people (myself included) would prefer to build their own server PC, but I think this would appeal to more of the masses. Make them forget it's a PC running things and make it simple as possible. Even if it costs quite a bit I think it would do well.
