Mencoder instead of FFmpeg

I am posting a feature request for future SageTV but I wasn't sure which is the right forum to post feature request. If this is the wrong forum then sorry about it and would moderator please move to the correct forum. Thank you

I like using Mencoder for my Transcoder and would like to see an option to choose to use the latest Mencoder instead of FFmpeg in future version of SageTV.

Also an place where I can put in extra command to be able to tweak Mencoder.

I am requesting this feature becasue of Mencoder's excellent closed caption and subtitle support.

Not only this, but Mencoder has filters, like inverse-telecine and others, which do excellent jobs! Can't do IVTC with FFmpeg.

Replacing FFmpeg with Mencoder is the absolute number one on my personal wish-list!

I'm glad to see that there are more people who want this.
