hauppauge remote + SMK ehome receiver

possible? I have a have the 34 button hauppage remote working in one room, and i'd like to use it in another. The other room i was given an SMK rIR REceiver that looks installed properly, and shows up as a microsoft Ehome transceiver. Pushing the buttons on the remote make the receiver light up, but i'm not getting any reaction on the computer.
I've tried setting it as all possible types of remotes. Tried running the hauppauge IR application but no go.
Is this just an incompatible pair?

What OS are you running? What version of Sage? Is media center disabled on the system?

The Hauppauge remote seems to be just like a PVR150 remote designed to work with Hauppauge receivers (plugged in PVR card). On the other hand the SMK receiver is a MCE remote receiver, so it is designed to work with a compatible MCE remote.

You may have some success with IR server suite (from the Mediaportal forums), it doesn't use the remote receiver, but instead the learning receiver (though I don't know if it is that practical to use a receiver dedicated to learning as a standard remote receiver)

Regards,
Stéphane.

Xp Pro, sage 6.3. So it seems i'm attempting to use a MCE transceiver in a non-mce environment.

That should work fine. Many of use do the same thing. What won't work is the hauppauge remote with it. You'll need to use an MCE remote or a unversal remote programmed to emulate the MCE remote. Almost any of the universal remotes out there can do that.

I also have the SMK IR hardware.

You said the IR server suite worked. Was that with SageTV?

Could you let me know how you combined a MediaPortal plugin with SageTV?

Thanks
