Is the Newest SageTV v6.4 a complete pkg?

Hi SageTV Users

I have been trying out the SageTV Media Center for Windows Version 6.4 and since I am not very good with manually setting programs up and configuring them I have found with the great support here in the SageTV Forums that I can do more then I could have ever imagined. Thank You

Before I buy anything I have a couple (Hopefully basic questions) that I could use some help and advice on.

1. Is the newest "SageTV Media Center for Windows Version 6.4" a complete package, I mean I do not have to buy "SageTV Recorder Version 1.5" too right? it is a total package for use on 1 computer only, I already have a "Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II" Dual tuner card that I have been using for a few years now and like the way it is all working with "SageTV Recorder Version 1.5" and would hate to buy SageTV's $79.99 pkg only to loose some of the functionality I am getting now with the trial version...

2. Is there a way to save or print a readable copy of all the setting options I have made in the "Detailed Setup Section"? Should I ever have to re-install SageTV I would hate to have to play the guessing game all over again to make things work correctly.

3. Does anyone else use "Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II" I am also using the "Firefly Remote" with there setup of SageTV that could let me know how they setup there "Detailed Setup" or suggest things you have done to get the best performance from SagetTV? If so I would really appreciate your suggestions.

I do have a couple other little things I am having issues with that I am certain is due to my lack of understanding the settings and will ask them in appropriate forums sections.

But I have enjoyed what I have learned and accomplished so far with SageTV and ready to dump my BeyondTV that I have used for several years.

Any other suggestions about purchasing SageTV and any recommendations on what package deals to consider that might save me money or headache in the long run would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank You again to those who have so quickly replied to post todate, Sage and this forums is awesome!

BTW: You might want to check out the Acronyms for SageTV topic that one of the FAQs points to, even if some of it is on the silly side. Most of the time, SageTV Media Center is referred to as "SageTV" & 'MC' is used for SageMC, a custom interface available in the customizations forum. (I've changed this thread's title.)

Yes, SageTV is the full package that can be used on a single PC or used as a server for other SageTV clients. SageTV Recorder is an older app that you don't need.

Not really... you can use the Info command while on the System Information screen to save a file with the same info shown on System Info, but it won't list all the configuration settings. I would be sure to make backups of sage.properties (settings) and wiz.bin (database).

I don't know anything about that remote, but I suggest searching the forum for it.

If you just install the new without uninstalling the old, most of your options will "stick". You don't have to go through everything again. Obviously items that change with the new release will have to be tweaked... and obviously you should always back up your properties file and all other "settings-related" files before the new installation... but in general, you shouldn't be starting from scratch.

I know because I just updated to 6.4.8 about 10 minutes ago. All is well so far.
