Unhappy Serial Control Question

OK - I have a Patersontech TV Translator that I have hooked up to a new installation of SageTV on a WHS and using an HD PVR and a DirectTV H23-600. I cannot get it to change channels within Sage. When I use the Test function on the TV Translator Configuration Utility, it does change channels on the H23, so I figure that it must be a SageTV configuration issue, but for the life of me I cannot find it. I have tried changing Com ports 1-6 and none of them work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the post BFisher.

Now please be gentle, speak slowly, and use small words as I am but a simple man and want to document this correctly for myself and future generations of newbies:

To clarify, I need to add the fast channel changing method by making a change to the registry. To do so:
1. I close Sage
2. I click Start --> Run and type "regedit".
3. I click Edit --> New --> DWORD value
4. When a new entry with the name "New Value #1" pops up, I replace "New Value #1" with "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\SageTV\DirecTVSerialFastChannelChanges"
5. I then right click on my new entry and click Modify
6. I change the Value Data field from "0" to "1"
7. I reboot the computer and am done.

Question 1: Once I open regedit I see lots of folders over to the left side. I am betting that I need to go to one related to Sage before I create this entry, but I want to be sure. Is there a particular place I need to put this entry? For example, do I navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\SageTV" and then create a new DWORD value called "DirecTVSerialFastChannelChanges"?

Question 2: Will this work for WHS (as that is the OS I am using)?

Question 3: Is there anything else I am missing?

This setting can now be made through Sage without manually editing the registry. You can find it in the Setup->Detailed Setup->Customize -- DirecTV Serial channel Changing Mode = Fast. I am using them connected to H21-200 recievers on WHS and they work great.

Talking Victory!!

Well, there was no option for Fast Changing in the Setup that I could find, but I got it working anyway. For the sake of posterity here is the procedure for the registry edit:
1. Close Sage
2. Click Start --> Run and type "regedit".
3. On the right hand side are some folders. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\SageTV"
4. Click Edit --> New --> DWORD value
5. When a new entry with the name "New Value #1" pops up, I replace "New Value #1" with "DirecTVSerialFastChannelChanges". It is just like renaming any other folder in Explorer.
6. I then right click on my new entry and click Modify
7. I change the Value Data field from "0" to "1"
7. I reopen Sage and I am done.

FYI - I did this on my WHS box running Sage as a service.

Thanks everyone!

FYI - after I made the registry change, the option appeared as gasinger said.
