Confusion with Studio...Modified the stv, now I'm lost

I made a few changes to the xml under the dynamicmenus section, and I know those changes will not stick if I load a new stv.

What do I do so that I can import those changes into any stv? Meaning, I guess, how do I create a stvi? I tried to read up on how to do this, but just become lost. I have tried exporting selected menus and also saving as a new xml, but neither worked.

These changes consist of getting FanArt to work on the Main Menu.

First, save any changes you make as a new XML file. Do not overwrite the stock XML file you started from.

Next, do a UID File Difference (on the Tools menu) comparing your modified file with the original. This will give you a list of the changes you made.

The results window will have a Generate STVI button on it. Use this to save your changes in STVI form.

If you need to make further changes, start from the modified XML file you saved in step one. Always compare against the unmodified original, so that the generated STVI contains all of your changes, not just the most recent ones.

That should get you started. There are some subtleties to creating STVIs that place nice with other STVIs regarding hooks and listeners, but for simple changes you shouldn't need to worry about that yet.

I didn't look under tools. Even if I did, though, it probably wouldn't have made a difference.
