Thumbs down HDPVR 1212 Junk in my opinion - Anything else?

Hi all;

Myself like most of you dished out over $ 200 for the Hauppauge HD PVR 1212 and are very unhappy with it.

Some of the issues I experience with the new drivers are

1) No signal lockups (Have to reboot it all the time) - can't rely on it to record anything.

2) Audio problems. Audio doesn't sync properly.

The big one is the lockups. Can anyone suggest any other type of HD device that works with Sage? I am sick of messing around with this crap.

I RMA'ed one D2 unit to receive another one. I read that the E1 version works well, but Hauppauge will not send an E series. They said they don't make it any longer.

I can't believe that they are still making this Junk and I wish they would fix their problems if they are capable. I have been very happy with other Hauppauge products in the past.

Please help with any others solution suggestions.

RJ

HD-PVR is the ONLY device out there that can take a component output and record it. Other devices that are supported by Sage will only receive HD ClearQAM stations from cable or HD ATSC Over the Air signals. The HD-PVR is the ONLY device that will work with satellite systems to get HD. What OS and hardware are you trying to run it on. I have a C1 on WHS with none of your issues recording everything thrown at it.

Now let's be clear here, yes we all dished out over $200 for the HDPVR, but I would not say MOST of us are unhappy with it. To be honest, mine has worked flawlessly since I received it in July of last year.

All playback via extenders with no issues.

I love mine.

I'm sorry you have a lot of problems with your HDPVR. My C2 from late July hasn't locked up in months (and that was only once or twice) and that was before moving it to a WHS server.

I'm playing back on one client PC and an extender with no problems.

My HD-PVR C2 has been working flawlessly since July last year. Never once have I rebooted it. I never updated the drivers eithers because why fix something when it ain't broke.

I suggest to keep sending it back until you get a working unit, if both units you received are faulty, coincidently. Otherwise, something else is the problem and it is not the HD-PVR.

read my sig...

I use two, I get the no signal once or twice a month. It's the price to pay for being on the bleeding edge.

BTW, broadcast television is in its twilight years, within 10 years it will be IP based.

Of course the rabit ears people will still be in the dark
