USB-UIRT & dishNet vip211

I have win xp pro and have two Hauppauge 1600 model 1183 and one PVR-150 capture cards. Since i cant get the Hauppauge IR blaster to even be seen by the setup Hauppauge software for setting up the hauppauge software i think i need to go with a USB-UIRT from SageTV.

I want to be able to change the channels
on my Dish network vip211 HD box (just 1 box). I want to use the PVR-150 with Svideo connection for the vip211 and the two 1600 cards to capture HD over the air channels. This way i can record 2 shows from the major networks (abc, nbc, cbs, fox) with the 1600's and get any dish TV through the PVR-150(yes i no it wont be HD).

I want the USB-UIRT to work with my current hauppauge 45 button remote. and have it change channels on the STB vip211. Is it difficult to setup?
I have read something about teaching the USB-UIRT but what is that exactly? I thought i would get the USB-UIRT from SageTV and just input what control box to send signals to, in my case the vip211. Plus of course i need it to work with sagetv and the 1600 cards for the over the air HD too of course.

I have also read something about adjusting the ini file for the USB-UIRT, is that necessasary plus i have no clue how to do that.
Hopeing for something more plug and play.

Plug the USB-UIRT and install the device drivers and get it working. Then go into Sage and follow the wizard for adding your Dish box. Point the Dish remote at the USB-UIRT so it cam learn the codes or pick it out of the list if it shows. Point your hauppague remote at the USB-UIRT to learn the commands to use with Sage. It's not that hard. Plus read the manual that was isntalled with Sage.

When you say point my dish remote and then my Hauppauge remote and i assume I then hit all the controls including the numbers on the num pad. How does the usb-uirt know what buttons iam hitting on the dish remote to learn the codes. Example i hit the number 1 on the dish remote and the usb-irt sees what code is sent out from the dish remote but how does the usb-uirt know that i pressed the number 1 on the dish remote? Since iam new to this whole DVR thing iam probably asking dumb questions but i figure not asking is even dumber.

Thanks for any help
Now i have to wait until i get the usb-uirt as i just ordered it today direct from the guy who makes them. SageTV was back ordered. Cheaper at Sagetv.

Read the Sage manual. The wizard will say hit 1 on your remote. Then you hit 1. It will tell you what buttons to hit. For your Hauppague you will see a list of SageTV commands. You can learn any button to any command. Read the Sage manual.
