How to accomplish this with favorites
Ok so I've read some forum postings and looked in the manual and I think I have an answer, but I'd like to know for sure.
So, I want to setup a favorite for say, "Super Why" (kids' show) and I want to limit Sage to only ever have 10 recordings of this show with auto delete turned on. Now, as they get recorded, the ones the kids don't like, my wife marks as "watched" so that episode will never get recorded again and then she deletes it. What I am looking for is a way to mark another recording as "don't ever delete this episode because my kids love it". This way assuming there are less that 10 of those "don't ever delete" episodes, when there are 10 total recordings of "Super Why" already recorded, one of the ones not marked "don't ever delete" will get tossed when another episode not previously marked as "watched" records. Sound easy enough? My question is what is this "don't ever delete" flag? Does it exist? I think it is the "archive" feature, but before I start archiving a few things, I want to make sure that the archived shows still count as one of the 10 allowed recordings. Anyone understand this babbling and how to accomplish it? |

You can mark a recording as Archived or make it a Manual Recording via the Record command & by SageTV's definition of those terms, the recordings will never be automatically deleted. However, they will also not count towards the Favorite's limit of 10, so the Fav will be free to record new shows to fill those slots.

Thanks for the heads up Opus4, I guess I'll bring that limit down to like 5 or so to force the wife to mark the shows watched or archive them.
