MCE remote and blaster
I have the MCE remote and blaster. The remote has very poor range and I have to keep extending my arm and holding it at all angles for it to work in sage...can I use another type of remote with the MCE reciever/blaster?

I don't know the specific answer to your question, but I have a couple relatively obvious, possibly useless, suggestions:
1 - Get a Logitech Harmony remote...any one of them. They just plain WORK. -or- 2 - Douse a rag with a bit of rubbing alchohol and wipe down the IR emiter portion of your remote. I know that some of the MC remotes are pretty weak and even just the slightests smudges on the front of them interfere with them.

I have the MCE receiver setup with XP and Event ghost and it will recognize inputs form the Hauppauge remote once the MCE replacement driver is installed. Not sure what other remotes might work. I also don't use it as a blaster but from what I have read you can still do that after the driver switch.

Thanks, but is there any way to get the MCE receiver to recognize the Hauppauge remote without changing drivers?
P.S.- I'm using LM remote keymap with my setup. |

out of curiosity, what distance are you using this remote at?
I've got an MCE Remote and it works perfectly across my basement which is a good 50 to 60 feet... This sounds like there is something else causing IR interference in your environment. Is your TV a Plasma, LCD, DLP, CRT? Plasmas are known to emit an IR field that can cause some levels of interference. My Samsung Plasma causes enough interference that I can't learn remote codes when its on unless I sheild the IR receiver that is attempting to learn a command. I trust you've tried putting new batteries in the unit to make sure its pushing a strong signal... -Striker- |

and it works some of the time but not all of the time?
at that kind of distance, it should work every single time. What operating system are you using and what remote control software do you have running in the background? -Striker- |

Now it is working after I modified the registry for the replacement driver, very strange...I'm using LM remote keymap.
