UK Internet Radio
Hi,
Has anyone worked out how to get internet radio for the UK on SageTV. I think there is a plugin for the US but what about the UK? I seem to remember trying the US plugin but (I think) it would not work from the UK. Thanks, David |

I think the squeezecenter STV looks a good way to do this. It also looks like it might be better replacement for My Music.
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20296 I haven't tried it myself yet, but I am about to. |

I am aware of four solutions to this issue:
Slimplayer, Pandora Simple web radio and my own work on the web radio encoder. I have slimplayer installed but it was not quite what I was looking for but maybe for you. Certainly it is great that it offers a consolidated directory of internet radio which you can browse. It does play your music collection too. I was not keen on the user interface and was put off by the sound of the netflix hack which is required to get it to work on extenders. I didn't even look at pandora plugin as I'd heard it would not work for UK users. I think simple web radio is not supported much now so I have not looked at that. The web radio encoder has some overlap with these solutions but the intentions are different - I wanted a consistent look and feel with SageTV tht my wife could use, I wanted a radio PVR so I could schedule recordings, I was more interested in regular radio stations than pure internet radio stations so I wanted to see their schedules. I felt I could live with the disadvantages of my solution - drain on CPU and requirement to choose radio stations in advance rather being able to scratch an itch to listen to some station and genre I'd never before tried. People have different wants and needs so you should read carefuly the descriptions of the plugins and their threads and decide which matches your needs best. Michael,
Thanks for the reply and thanks to everyone for the information, your plugin sounds very good and definately the sort of thing I'm after. I previously tried to use Pandora but it does not seem to work if you live in the UK. I also need something that my wife can use, that's reasonable quality and I am only really interested in regular or local radio stations such as Essex FM, Capital, Radio One etc. I'll download and give your plugin a whirl.
