Can I use my Windows license key on Linux?

I'm going to set up a dual-boot Redhat/WinXP system. Can I use my Windows key on the Linux platform so that I can always have SageTV running?

Crud.

I may need to move my installation to my WHS, then - As long as it has enough horsepower.

Depending on the capture cards you are using (USB or HRDR would work) you could use VMware on RedHat to run the XP partition in a VM when you are booted into HR.

But in my opinion you really shouldn't have a Sage Server on a box you plan to keep mucking with a lot.

I really wish Sage would revisit this. I'd love to move to LINUX as a server from WHS.

Why can they just de-activate your Windows key and issue you a new LINUX one?

Seems a bit screwy for an otherwise generous company.

agreed. Silly that it isn't transferrable. really, its strange that they don't just use the same key, as the functionality is identical.

WHS is free???

AzJazz says: "I may need to move my installation to my WHS"

Wow. I never knew Windows EVER gave any of their operating systems away for free.

A. $80 for a SageTV Linux license

B. $99 for Windows Home Server OEM

Unless you've already made the mistake of buying yet another copy of Windows you'd be better off going to Linux. You can even save money on the hardware because Linux works so much better than Windose.
