Updated HD100 firmware, unable to get into system menu ...
So I decided to upgrade my SageTV install from 6.4 to the latest 6.6.1, and updated the HD100 from some version released in 2008 to the latest beta. However, I am no longer able get into the system menu (the one where you can do the firmware update etc). Turning power off and on using the power switch skips that option now, and using the StandBy->Menu buttons on the HD100 boots it straight into SageTV.
What am I doing wrong? |

If I remember correctly when in standby press the home button on the remote.

If you configured it to autoconnect to your SageTV server, you'll need to cancel that while the HD100 is starting up.
Oh, and I think you mean that you've already updated the firmware, but just in case, that is covered in this FAQ. - Andy

I don't even get the 5 second countdown screen anymore. I turn the power on, and 30 seconds later or so, the first thing I see is the regular SageTV interface. Standby followed by the Home button does the same thing. I have tried booting it up with the network cable unplugged, but then it just sits there.
I'm thinking that it 'might' be working, but just not showing on screen for some reason. |

Just in case the auto-connect timeout just isn't visible for some reason, try pressing Enter on the remote while it is booting.

No luck. Using Enter just sends it to the screen once the SageTV has been loaded. The unit is working fine, but there were a few adjustments I wanted to make, plus I won't be able to update the HD100 until I figure this out.

Worst-case scenario, you can always use the recovery procedure to update the firmware without using the menu.

make sure you are using the power button on the back of the device. I one tried that using the stand-by button in front, thinking I was turning it off. I should have known better but sometimes when you are frustrated, its hard to think clearly enough.
The splash screen will say "auto connecting to __________ " network and press the enter button within 5 seconds to cancel. Make sure and turn off the extender for a few seconds before you power it back on. |

One a similar note, when stopping the auto-connect and going in to the HD100 system menu, I noticed that when selecting to go to the settings, the HD100 waits for about 10seconds before doing so and then all remote key presses are executed quickly to catch up....

sungod, I have been using the physical power switch, and I no longer get that splash screen which I used to get until this firmware upgrade.

If you are using hdmi could you try another output connector to see if that works?

I had a problem like this once and the solution was to power cycle the TV. I had to physically unplug the set, not just "soft power-off". Somehow the HDMI connection between the TV and the HD100 was not being established correctly.

So you weren't able to get into settings, but your SageTV interface still worked, right?

Same problem here after updating to the 6/11/2009 firmware. I only get a split second splash screen as the device begins to start up and then nothing for 30 seconds until the UI loads. Disconnecting the network cable, turning of the SageTV server, hitting "Enter" during what should be the autoconnect portion of boot (although I can't actually see it) - all result in no video for the setup screen. I am connected via HDMI (HDMI to DVI to be specific) but it always worked in the past. I've tried turning the TV on and off, unplugging the TV, and hooking up a composite video cable all with no luck.

This is definitely still an issue. Up until last night's HD100 firmware upgrade (was getting it ready for v7), it wouldn't show the boot screen, but eventually it got to the SageTV interface just fine (had to hardcode the 1080i setting, and disable all other options).
However, since I did that upgrade last night, I am really having problems again, having to screw around with the 'video out' button on the remote in order to get it to the right resolution so it will display on my TV, and sometimes, even having to factory reset the HD100. |

You do know that all client properties are stored on the server under the "client" folder in the Sage directory. If you ever have problems, you can just delete the client properties (the name corresponds to the MAC address of the extender you are having problems with and the MAC address is on the back and/or underneath the physical unit).
I assume the reason why when you completely uninstalled and reinstalled Sage, is that you ended up deleting this client folder and all the associated client properties files....

I actually looked in the properties file, but I couldn't find a single reference to the extender resolution. I ended up rolling the firmware back to the latest official release, so I am back up and running (which isn't perfect, but at least it somewhat works).
