Care to share your methods of updating the drivers? Are you simply using the driver update command of the device manager? Are you wiping the old drivers out and then starting fresh with the new drivers? Are you uninstalling and reinstalling SageTV????????
Thanks, It is funny that this might be the fix for many people, but we are all too afraid to mess with our HD-PVR to try it out.

You have to run hcwinstall AFAIK because that's what loads the matching firmware. |

I think much like many devices such as wireless cards the firmware gets loaded into the HDPVR every time the device is connected. The ROM file is installed with the driver into system32\drivers.
Not sure if there is a way to verify this but the fact that the rom file is installed along side the sys file indicates to me that the firmware is updated upon connecting the HDPVR rather than at driver installation.

Could be, it just looks like the installer EXE does it from watching what's displayed in the GUI.

I'm pretty sure the device gets flashed. Linux users of the HD-PVR have had to connect their devices to a Windows server to be able to have the latest firmware for the HD-PVR on their Linux SageTV server. The linux drivers continue to evolve and sometimes require the latest firmware to work properly.

Well, I went ahead and upgraded my driver/firmware. Honestly, I've always used the "Update Driver" option to upgrade its driver. We'll see how this goes. Last week I also moved the HDPVR to the PCI USB/Firewire card I have. It uses the NEC chip for USB. Not sure if the PCI-PCI bridge will affect things but we'll see since it seems like people are having great luck with NEC based USB2 cards. That's actually my experience with other USB devices. Since NEC was part of the design team for USB2 I believe the original NEC chip was used as the basis for USB2 compatibility by the USB-IF. It would make sense that more devices would be compatible with it.

Remote Deskop is a wonderful thing for doing stuff like this at work when nothing is happening at home. The only things my HDPVR records regularly now are Stargate: Universe and Santuary on Friday nights. Everything else is recorded off my HDHR.

When I contacted Hauppauge support about the issues I was having they recommended unplugging the HDPVR from the wall and the PC before running hcwclear.exe

I updated mine last week. Haven't had any issues with it specifically.
The SA STB that its connected to is a different story. I actually had a messed up recording this past Friday evening because it decided to stop outputting audio. Caught it in the middle of the recording only because nothing else was going on and I decided to start watching it 20min after it had started.

EDIT - I realized after this post that I had downloaded the 1.5.6.0 firmware from the Hauppauge site and not the 1.5.6.1 from this thread. So my comments are unrelated to the 1.5.6.1 version

I'm looking on Hauppauge's site - where is the .1 update located for the HD-PVR? I only see the 1.5.6 version.

After thinking I upgraded to the 1.5.6.1 version only to find out it was the 1.5.6 version I finally upgraded to the actual 1.5.6.1 version from this thread.
My experience has not been good. I still get terrible audio sync sometimes. For example, my wife just finished watching "Property Virgins" on HGTV and the sound was off by about 5 seconds by the end of the show. We just changed to MNF and the sound started out in sync, but seems to be floating further out of sync as time goes on. I'm using analog audio and a Dish VIP211k STB. I'll be reverting back to 1.5.0.3 here as quickly as possible.

Windows 7 64bit
Is there a driver for Windows 7 64bit version?

I try to download the 1.0.5.301 version of the driver from your site and I always get a login popup. My forum log in does not work. Any suggestions?
EDIT - I edited the html link after looking at some of the other download links. That worked fine. I guess the link in your 1.5.0.301 thread is incorrect.
