You Tube / Google Video broken in latest sageMC?
Maui Mike and All:
In the past several months, I've been trying to figure why most YouTube and Google videos wont playback on sageTV. Almost all of the videos will give the errors below: "Video does not have MPEG4, FLV or AMI file type" or "Unable to determine the video file to download." Also, when doing SageTV YouTube search, only few results are shown; sometimes none. When using Google video search, it works correctly. I see these two issues on both my PC based client and HD-200 which use the latest SageMC. I thought this was a bug with the base sageTV software. However, it turns out that sageTV support said it's been fixed for a while now in their standard STV. Anyway, I'm hoping it's one of my settings; or, something I need to change in my properties file; as it would be hard to imagine something this big would be blatantly ignored by everyone in the past several months. PS: I'm using the latest sageTV version 6.6.2 and SageMC version 6.3.9a. Thanks in advance! Michael

SageMC just switches to the default STV for online videos.

I think you have to download the latest default STV.
I have the same issue, but haven't bothered to try the fix yet.

In the Detailed Setup you need to update the STV. Use the Update button.

Thanks Gerry, I updated the STV to the latest version. I had to update several times to bring it to the most current version. Unfortunately, it didnt fix the two errors I get playing back YouTube and Google videos. I either get one error or the other. I already tried restarting sageTV server and the clients, but it didnt make any difference. The only thing that was fixed is no I see more search results in YouTube; however, it doesnt do really any good if I cant play any of them back. I am seeing the same problem on my PC based client as the HD200.
Is there something I need to change in my properties file? I'm not sure what else to try. Error #1: Error #2: Already updated to the latest STV:

Have you tried it just in the DefaltSTV w/o any customizations?

I just loaded the default STV (the latest one I just updated to). I still see the same two errors trying to play them back.

You have just ruled out SageMC as the problem.

Right, I knew that several posts back. I was hoping to I might still get help here instead of starting another thread all over again asking the same thing somewhere else.

I'm also having this problem. I updated to the latest default STV, and the videos won't play either in SageMC or the default STV. I get the same error as mkanet.

Attached, are debug files for sageTVsevice+sageTV.exe which log trying to playback 6 google videos: 5 of them with the "Unable to determine the video file to download" error messages; and 1 of them with the "Video does not have MPEG4, FLV or AVI file type"
If anyone wants to take a look at them to see whats wrong, I would really appreciate it. Hopefully, its somethign that can be fixed pretty easily.

Go to the OnlineVideos folder and delete OnlineVideoLinks.properties, OnlineVideoUIText.properties, NewOnlineVideoLinks.properties, and NewOnlineVideoUIText.properties. When you enter the Main Menu Sage will then download the latest version of these files.

Hi tmiranda, thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately, those files already go updated after I updated my STV and went back to the main menu. I did delete those files anyway and let the them get recreated. However, those files dont affect playback of youtube/google videos available via searches. I almost never playback videos from the presets in the Online Videos section. Most of the time, I'll just do a google or youtube search. Usually from the IMDB gvideos search function.

I figured out the problem a while back. Sorry I didnt post here.
Go to: SageTV Setup\Detailed Setup\Advanced\Check for STV Update Current ver: 2009xxxxxx\Update over and over again until you get a message that says: "No update is available for STV file set '2009120901'" then, restart sageTV/sageTVservice completely, you wont have this playback issue; unless you're trying to playback these videos through an old addon/STV. That's the problem I was having. I was trying to playback these videos using the IMDB GVID search tool (which used the old STV code). If you try the "Online Videos" menu, you wont have this problem. With this latest STV update, we can now finally playback 1080p Movie Trailers for many sageTV movie / TV using the 'Movie Trailers 1.0 for SageMC' addon! You can see some screenshots of how to update the STV from the below post: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...3&postcount=21
