logos not transparent

Okay, so I've downloaded and put all of these logos:

http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...do=file&id=211

in the channel logos folder, confirmed that they are the only logos in there, and that they are all png logos.

Somehow, there is only one that is showing up as transparent, all of the others have a white background.

What have I done wrong?

Is the background transparent or white? What are you using to edit them?

Photoshop.

Umm yeah, I guess I could have checked on that. Apparently the backgrounds are white. Do I need to edit them and remove the white backgrounds before I put them in the logo folder? I guess I just assumed that someone would make them transparent since they are PNGs.

I mean, isn't someone else supposed to do all of this work for me?

So the logical follow up is:

Can anyone recommend a package of logos that are already transparent pngs?

Yeah you would think someone would huh

Yes the backgrounds need to be transparent not white so I would simply do a white to transparent.

I guess I could do that in photoshop and just process them all as a batch, that way I don't have to screw around with them one at a time with the magic wand.

Any recommendations on how to do that in PS? (not using the magic wand)

Pretty much done for you here. Direct TV transparent logos part 1 & 2.
Most of the png(s) are trans. You can pick some others up in the other logos packages offered.

You might want to try it with a few and see how it looks first. I was super excited about transparent logos too until I actually made a few. Some looked great, but most looked god-awful. I ended up grabbing all my logos from here, so they all have the same black background and match each other. It's amazing how nice of an effect it is to have them all match each other.

Yeah, after messing with this transparency, I think I'm going to ditch it and just go with the harmony icons. They are pretty sharp.

Do they have to be a certain size to work in the EPG, etc?

Best Logo's I've come across are on lyngsat. www.lyngsat-logo.com. The 'High-Quality' versions are transparent. Not in a pack though, and you'd have to go through and rename them to match your channel names, but as i said, they are the best quality available.

Random Example:
