Magic Jack and Sage

hey guys,

This is a question for all of you who use magic jack already. I have currently used their service for a few months now, and I am very happy with it. My calls are crystal clear and never drop.

As some of you may know, there are more convenient ways to run MJ then just plugging it into your everyday computer and leaving it on all the time.

One of the most popular it seems to me is to purchase a used HP ThinClient from ebay, one with a small amount of storage and just run it headless to do nothing but run MJ. Thats not to bad since you can buy them rather cheap, 60-80 bucks usually and they are said to use very little power. They have no fans and no hard drives. I believe it is all flash memory.

Another option is to get your SIP credentials, and use a MJ plugin for your DDWRT enabled router to act as the MJ proxy. Then, by using a IP phone or a ATA you plug directly into your router. The downside to this is if MJ updates its software, you need to reload and update all of your settings in the router. If your not aware of the update, you would be without phone service.

For me, my sage server/client will be on all the time as it is. Is anyone running MJ on their server? Possibly running it "as a service" to avoid seeing the softphone interface? (It always "Comes to the top" when you use the phone, which would not be good when watching from the server.)

Which option do you guys use? And is there any plugins out for MJ and sage? I saw something for skype once, just curious.

Thanks!

Yea I already read that topic, its mainly discussing different types of phone services, with like two people telling about their experiences running it on the same box as sage.

Thats why I started a new topic, about Sage and MJ. I already have a phone service that I like.

So year, search is my friend.

Found this thread while searching for something else. I also use MJ, and this link seems to be pretty handy:

Has anyone tried this?
