DVB-S TV card recommendation
Hi,
I bought a TechnoTrend S-2400 (external USB box) because it is on the hardware compatibility list of SageTV. Unfortunately it does not work, channel scan always returns 0 channels. Now I want to buy an internal PCI card and because I cannot rely on SageTV's list I want to ask YOU: Who can recommend a TV card that works fine with SageTV 6.6.2 out of the box (no network encoder)? I need: - low profile card, full height does not fit into my box - DVB-S (DVB-S2 not needed but welcome) - PCI card Maybe it's interesting that I live in Germany, so it should be possible to buy it here ;-) I intend to receive Astra 19.2°E. Any hints are really welcome. Oliver

Oliver,
I have one of those (TT 2400) and although I don't use it very often, it works quite well with SageTV. You should contact Qian to see what your problem is.

http://www.sagetv.com/request.html In the meantime, I could give you frq files for Astra 1, 2 and Hotbird with which to add channels manually without the scan.

I already submitted a support request with all logs but haven't heard anything back since then.
If you could post the frq files (19.2°E, is it Astra 1?) and a short instruction that would be great. Oliver Edit: BTW: We are talking about the same card, right? I have this card: TT-connect S-2400 Here is the product page and an image: http://www.tt-pc.com/2778/TT-connect__S-2400.html

Yes, same card.
Here's the frq file I use. If your S-2400 is the only DVB card on your SageTV PC, the it's name in SageTV should be the same as mine. ie USB DVB Capture 0. If not then you have to modify the name of the file I attached to much the naming given by your SageTV installation to your S-2400. The contents of the file are for Astra 19.2 German channels. You can change the channel numbers if you want. Then 1. if you use XMLTV epg data, setup your DVB source, choose you XMLTV file and don't do a scan. Afterwards you should have only the channels from XMLTV listed. You should go in each channel and map the physical number to the ch number in the frq file. OR 2. If you don't use XMLTV Just add the DVB capture source and add the channels manually. You need to specify a name, logical and physical ch number. The physical channel number should match the ch number in the frq file. If you want to use the DVB epg info then you have to perform a scan using the correct option.

It works!!!
I was not aware that I have to do the channel lineup in my xmltv importer. I use LMGestons XMLTV-Importer and it worked fine. I always tested by selecting "no epg source". Thanks a lot!

Great!
You can go to http://www.lyngsat.com/astra19.html for more channels. The onid, tsid and sid values are green. The rest are self explanatory.

Thanks.
Actually I have all the values in another frq file from my old WinTV Nova HD-S2, unfortunately that card is not low profile so I cannot use it anymore. But I can copy all channels from that file into the new file ;-) Thanks for all the help!

There is a bug in SageTV. For me SageTV created the file USB-2-0-BDA-DVB-Capture-0.lnb while I saw in native.log that SageTV is looking for USB-2.0-BDA-DVB-Capture-0.lnb ("2.0" instead of "2-0") After renaming the file channel scan works just fine. Oliver
