Question about using Firewire to power cycle my STB
Has anybody been able to cycle power on a Cablevision SA4250HD STB via firewire? I saw a post that shows how to do this with the following commands...
Off --> channel.exe -f -d -n a08e326fd454 9 On --> channel.exe -f -d -n a08e326fd454 13 In my case I get the following response... ...CE 2005 STB Controller\channel" -f -d -n a08e326fd454 9 Send raw command returned not supported Response not accepted, or incorrect channel in response Send raw command returned not supported Response not accepted, or incorrect channel in response Send raw command returned not supported Response not accepted, or incorrect channel in response Send raw command returned not supported Response not accepted, or incorrect channel in response... Does this mean that these commands do not work with my STB or have I done something wrong?

I was the one that made the post about power cycling it, it works for me using a motorola STB, unfortunately before I had the motorola I had a SA4250, although it was from Charter, and I was never able to do anything with firewire except change channels. I tried a bunch of commands, most of them just giving the same error you're getting. You could try sending different numbers and just see what it does, maybe you'll get lucky and it's just undocumented.
Just make sure you're watching the screen to make sure you don't do something like order ppv |

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try and see what happens.
