SageTVPlayer mkv no audio

SageTV 7.0.11 on XP SP3;

Using the SageTVPlayer I am getting no audio with mkv files. AVI files play perfectly fine. The mkv files are a mixture of AC3 and DTS audio.

I use "direct show" for MKV (H264) playback and not the "sagetvplayer' option.

I noticed the other day that I have to use the sagetvplayer to get audio for some avi's, this is the opposite of you, most of my rips are MKV's and I have very few avi's.

There is also some info on AC3/DTS with MKV's in this thread,

Good luck!

I was chasing a similar problem with dropped frames on high bit rate 1080p videos; and at the same time and no audio on AAC or DTS .mkv files.

My solution for the audio problem was to uninstall anything related to codec/decoders (ffdshow, ac3 filter, haali media splitter) and then reinstall AC3 Filter.

Detailed Setup - Setting
Audio Renderer = Default
MPEG 2 Audio renderer = AC3Filter

The problem with dropped frames on high bit rate files was to disable 'EnableSageTVStreamDemux' in the registry and reinstall install haali media splitter

Hope it helps you, it took me a few hours to get everything back to 100%.

I was having issues with DirectShow not playing back video properly. Which before the upgrade is what I used on that system. I ended up upgrading ffdshow, haali, ac3 filter and Nvidia drivers. Once I got the Nvidia drivers installed Directshow finally smoother back out and played properly. Still no love of audio with mkv files using SageTV Player though. The thread linked to above yielded no useful help.

I didn't try to uninstall all my codecs, as SageTV Player is not even supposed to use those, and setting the MPEG2 Audio renderer, should also have no effect on the SageTV Player. I guess it may be worth a try later though.
