FIOS STB and Firewire question

Just got FIOS installed like 2 weeks ago. Now I want to set them up for firewire channel changing. I have 2 ports available on a 3 port firewire 800 card that I also have my Drobo connected to. I installed the Tim Moore firewire drivers and rebooted, and then I plugged in one of the STB's -- the device manager tries to install 2 Motorola (null) devices and then that's it -- no AV Panel and no Tuning Device. So I see around here that other people have gotten FIOS firewire changing working -- any ideas. Its a win2k3 box, which shouldn't matter. The only thing I can think of is that I am using the Unibrain firewire drivers for my firewire card instead of MS, maybe that is messing up the detection. And I do believe that some users on here have the QIP7100's setup, so I don't think its that unless they never fully enabled my boxes for firewire -- anyone have to call Verizon to get that feature turned on?

If firewire isn't enabled on your STBs, calling Vz won't you do you any good unless you swap the boxes. There's no way for them to remotely enable/disable individual features -- it's all in the firmware.

an update

changed the drivers out from unibrain to ms and did another reboot and the boxes showed up just fine. But now the issue is that I can't do 4 digits. It can do 3 just fine but if you do 4 it goes crazy and starts putting in numbers repeatedly. Have to unplug and replug the firewire just to get the thing to do 3 digits right again. My code is -- channel -f 3 901 -- I tried -a4 and -a6 as others suggested and it spits back errors, so this command works just fine and consistently, but just not with 4 digits. Now however if I do --- channel -f a0 3 1800 it works perfectly, but if I try and do that with 3 digits it doesn't like that either.
