New Install Problems

Just did a fresh install of everything on my sagetvserver and now for some reason the service will not start at all. I can run core setup just fine, i'm running win7 and the latest .14 beta. I cannot debug as the service will not even start and i have tried rolling back. i'd like it if there was a sagetv registry cleaner so i could remove every trace of sagetv and try again as i'm not all that fond of spending another 2 hours reinstalling everything

Try running just SageTV.exe without the service. Quite often when the service won't start its due to the trial period being expired for SageTV. Running just SageTV.exe by itself would tell you that.

completely fresh install win7 on just what is needed for sagetv installed just had this system running in this configuration but i bought an hd-pvr so it was easier to start over than try to fight with that thing. The regular sagetv.exe runs just fine. I need someone to help me get rid of every reg entry related to sage

the only thing I can think of is that when i went to register my extender license it asked for my sagetv license and already having copied the extender license to clipboard accidentally hit paste but it seemed ok with it and allowed me to enter the key once again where it should be. Maybe this is causing an issue bu I cannot see a way to remedy it if it is causing problems

If SageTV.exe runs fine; then I'd check your service settings to make sure they are correct (i.e. the user its running under). If that doesn't resolve it; then enable debug logging in Detailed Setup->Advanced from SageTV.exe; and then try the service and send in your sagetv_0.txt log file as part of a bug report and we should be able to help you. http://sagetv.com/bugs.html

the service will not start so there is no debug information and everything else is fine too it just will not start and I'd like to do some clean up in the registry to see if that helps

I had that same problem too - when I tried starting the service before I entered my sage tv key in and had the same problem you are having now. I ended up having to reformat to fix the problem since like you said there is no sage removal tool. I basically started the service after a new install and the key entry did not pop up when i did so I manually started it before turning off the service and thats when I had problems.

I did notice that if you reinstalled version 7 over 6 would reset your key which I assume would maybe fix the issue but I don't think I tried it or it did not work for me.

You could try uninstalling version 7 and reinstall 6 and maybe that will reset the service when it resets the key. Just dont start the service after the removal and reinstall is my only idea.
