Add online content without playon?

Is there any way to add an online content provider without using playon. I'd like to add the videos on nick-jr.com, but i don't see any way to add them in sage. I would be watching these on an extender.

Thanks!

Im pretty sure there is a way to add certain types (very specific subset) of content to the online content. I think you do it by modifying a certain file in the sage install directory....hopefully Opus or someone can chime in here.

I use:

which is pretty AMAZING!

Sage can only add online content that
  1. Has an RSS feed.
  2. The links in the RSS feed resolve to either Youtube pages or direct downloads of the video.

The problem is now days most RSS feeds resolve to webpages that contain a custom flash player which is why Playon is required for most content you'd want to add. I'm not too familiar with the web feed encoder, so i'm not sure what capabilities it enables.

Having a problem? Don't forget to include a log! (Instructions for: PlayOn For SageTV v1.5, MediaShrink)

Instructions for adding feeds were under this thread (a sticky) for v6:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32735

...but there is no such thread in the v7 customizations forum. That may be because it's still in beta, or it may be because you no longer can do it this way (if v7 was redone to eliminate this method). I really don't know the answer but I'm sure someone here does.

Similar to what is stated above, I think the easiest way to describe what would work was "if it is a video file that you can download and save", or if it is a youtube or "Google video" feed. Otherwise, it probably wouldn't work. WebFeedEncoder might work, but I think the generic limit there is whether you can find a URL for the stream that you could plug into, say, Windows Media Player, and watch (without it trying to open a site-proprietary browser). If you can extract that URL, you probably get it in WFE.

Web feed encoder 0.9.7 can now podcast'ize a (single) URL.

By which I mean I serve up locally a RSS feed referencing a remote URL.

I guess the media will still have to be the right sort - e.g mostly mp4 and mp3.

I got big plans in this area though.
