Success/Bugs with Using Diamond 3.0 with Non-Beta Sage?
I was just curious if anyone has tried Diamond v3.0 with SageTV v7.0.x. I know it is not support by the Diamond team, but I was wondering if anyone had any luck with it. What bugs have you seen if any? I gave Diamond 3 a spin on a 'test machine' with the Sage beta installed and am loving it! I would like to steer clear of the Sage beta for a while longer though, especially since I have an HVR-2250 which is buggy in the new beta. Thoughts?

There appears to be an issue where if you are not running the beta you lose the TV menu and the Exit menu. (And the Diamond team doesn't support it.) As far as the new beta 7.12 there is a new dll you can download for the fix for the HVR2250.

I dont check the forums on a regular basis. So when I saw the update for a new version of diamond I downloaded it. But I'm only using the final release of Sage 7 and didnt realize I needed the new beta.
Im confused on why the diamond team would even put this in the plugin database as an update if one ALSO needs the new beta version of Sage. I didnt see this explicitly explained when I downloaded it. This should have been a new version of Diamond that wasn't offered as an upgrade path to avoid confusion. How does one revert back now to the old diamond? |

Then I logged onto the forum and realized I had to have the newest beta of SageTv that I am not willing to download just yet. Don't want to have to "tweak this or that" to get it working properly or have a problem with the WAF... The only problems I see is that I lost the "Exit" and "TV" menus which isn't a big deal. I don't use the Exit on the Extenders, and I can still get to my recordings if I hit the Video button the remote control. As long as this is all thats broken, I can live with it until a few newer versions of SageTV 7 betas get "shaken out" and become stable enough to use without issues. It is too bad the repository is limited in such a way that you can't have two projects of the same name even with different versions. This would avoid some future confusion as I am sure I'm not the only one (or will be the only one) this will happen too. |

Just an FYI, the 7.1.2 Beta installed fine, and I had zero problems with a PVR500, 2 HDPVRs, and 2 HDHRs. I too was a little worried about borking the main TV, but it was a non-issue. Since you can just copy your current folder elsewhere and be back to the old setup in a minute or two, there is very little risk.

There realy aren't any changes I can see hurting anyone. Most of the changes and issues are for Collusus and a couple of core changes.

Thanks guys. I might give the new beta a shot then. I saw there were some problems with the 2250's, which I have, but see there is a fix for it.

There was a slight change to something in the main menu that is causing the TV/Exit issue on a 7.0.23 STV. We're still not sure how the plugin is updating for you when you only have 7.0.23 installed as it is set to only install on 7.1.x versions (Plucky has mentioned a few times now and there is a sticky) I am going to try to run some tests on installing this morning to see why it is allowing an install on a 7.0.23. Well Narflex had said that some existing plugins could be broken going to the 7.1.2 beta if they changed the Main Menu. In your case you developed for 7.1.2 so I'm assuming breaks would occur in trying to run it on 7.0.23.

Thanks, gonna give the beta a try.
To anyone wondering, beta fixed the problem, and presented no problems w/ my 2 X Avermedia 180's. Last edited by cbryan27; 03-06-2011 at 02:06 PM. |

Can't support two versions like Plucky said before, even with one version we all spend far too much of our "free" time working on it How people are still installing on 7.023 I don't know... 7.1 is required in the plugin manager, still looking into it. Cheers, Jeremy |
