How to disable Metadata in stand alone mode

I have some video files that appear like this on the HD300 in stand alone mode:

this.old.house.s3e14.restoring.a.cottage.mpg

Sometimes they appear like this:

There are no .properties files in the folder. I am assuming that someone else added the metadata to the file and the SageHD 300 is picking up that metadata and using it which is annoying because most of the time I cannot tell what episode number a file is without getting info on it so I end up with something like this:

this.old.house.s3e14.restoring.a.cottage.mpg

this.old.house.s4e15.deck.building.mpg
this.old.house.s4e18.sun.roof.install.mpg

What I would like is to stop the HD300 from ever displaying metadata so I can see the episode numbers.

Alternatively I would be willing to use a tool to strip metadata from the file if I have to.
