Incorrect image stored when scraping media files

Please see the picture below of the BMT UI:

You will see that "Covert Affairs" has the correct image for some shows and an image of "The Secret Life of an American Teenager". Sage will then show a different image than that:

As you can see, "Covert Affairs" shows an image for the show "Suits". I have the same type of issue with Fan Art and as such, I've disabled Fan Art as it is too annoying to have the wrong background image for the show.

Is there anything I can do to assist you in troubleshooting the issue?

I have all of these shows in the same folder. I do notice that sometimes a folder.jpg is created instead of showname.jpg.

Thanks in advance!

Since you've disabled fanart, then there is not much that I can offer. But when fanart is enabled, the fanart api will first check the central fanart folder for fanart and if it does not exist, then it will use the folder.jpg. I think sagetv will simply use the folder.jpg if it exists.

Based on how your filename is appearing as the title, I'd say that the media file doesn't have valid metadata, especially, MediaTitle and MediaType which would be required for fanart.

How do I go about fixing the filenames? What is the ideal naming format? I noticed that there are options to ignore text in a file name. I know that I'm able to click discover defaults and the correct show name, season and episode are filled in.

Thanks

If when you click discover defaults, and it properly fills in the information, then your filenames are already correct. There could be other things going on here, such as timeouts to the TVDB back end server, etc, that is causing the failed metadata lookups.

I've also slated some time to add some small enhancements to the TV metadata so that if a particular tv file doesn't have fanart, then it will try to use the series fanart. This way you should still see valid fanart, even if the metadata failed (in same cases)

Sounds good. When can we expect to see the new changes?

I'm not sure... I'm moving at a summer's pace, which is really slow I try to make a real effort to do work each night... but it's hard when I get distracted by so many things
