I played with this software for about a year before I registered on the forum...
2004-2005 long time Running...From Win TV 250, to Silicon Dust Prime. From DVD's to Blu Ray, From Pentium 4 to i5, what a ride!!! If we could get only half of the participation this forum has provided over the years for the open source project, I am extremely excited ![]() ![]() I'm glad I did not waste my time trying out the other inferior solutions out there. Keep Me Going Sage TV! ![]()

What scares me is that even after pretty much ignoring the forums for the better part of the last year and a half or so, I'm still at 2 posts per day... (this is post 7000)

I've been using SageTV since early 2004. It's still my primary TV viewing throughout the house!
So happy it's going open source and there is going to be life, excited to see what the smart folks can do with this great product....Then there is the new batch of HD300's! ![]() |

Yup. Still using sage after all these years. And loving it. I still don't think there is anything else on the market that provides the same level of flexibility and price as sage. Sure I have to tweak it once in a whole, but the answers seem to always be available here. Thanks everyone for your help.

I'm mostly a Lurker but I have found the forum posts to be invaluable. I could never find anything better than SageTV and still use it daily. I never gave up hope.

I'm one of the old dogs still using SageTV and have had both hips replaced. When you get your hip replacement, make sure your doctor does the anterior approach. You'll be walking same day of surgery. Anyway, I hope the open source Sage is developed to the point where I can dump the DirecTV Genie (with minis) hardware when my two year contract is up. I'll either need to go back to cable or get some newer model HD PVRs, depending on how Sage develops.

It looks like this is my first post in 5 1/2 years, but I have never stopped using SageTV since 2004. So, that's over 10 years now! I've never even tried anything else! I stop in here every once in a while, and I'm very happy to see the news about the Open Source project. Hopefully the free EPG service will remain. I cut the cord almost two years ago and use an antenna.

Joined the forums on 7/2/2006, but have been using Sage since late 2004 - purchased my first license from PCAlchemy on 8/20/2004.
I have definitely been a lurker. Whenever I needed information on configuration or setting something up, a quick search of the forums was all that was needed to figure out what the problem was. The forums have been, and continue to be, extremely helpful. Thank you to all who continue to contribute.

Over a decade here too and Sage is still going strong on my server (I think I'm on my fourth or fifth server since the beginning). Can't wait to see how the open source version evolves from here.

I fondly remember buying a custom HTPC case for Sage. Black anodized aluminum. That thing was *heavy*. And too loud for the living room, unfortunately. I think I switched to a Shuttle mini-PC, but it was too weak. And futzing with video drivers and codecs sucked.
Then the first extenders came out. *Chorus of angels* I still love my extender. The server is now running in a KVM Win7 Virtual machine, hosted by my unraid server. It's serving up many TB from my library and recordings. Another big step was moving from capture cards to HDHomerun. I'm sad that the new ones only have one antenna jack in them. (I need to point one antenna to Charlotte and the other to Raleigh.) SageTV carried over from the analog to digital conversion, and as 720p and 1080p came out. Long live SageTV! |
