HD PVR on Linux - no preview

Hey there! I've been pursuing my plan to fire up a Linux SageTV 9 instance and use it as a network encoder for my HD PVR.

So, it's been a long time since I set up my original system, and I'm wondering if I forgot anything.

The HD PVR is working fine on the box -- I can tune manually, I can capture suitable video and audio with a simple cat command...great!

When I fire up the miniclient, however, and go to add the PVR to my new sage instance, I select it, then pick component+spdif and....nothing. No recording light, no joy. To troubleshoot I selected all the other options, just to see. No dice.

Am I forgetting something?

It's been a very long time since I setup my 2 HDPVRs, but when you say "nothing" what do you mean? Have you tried watching livetv, or recording a show? Are you using the Linux Placeshifter? If so, it can be glitchy when it comes to the video. Can you use a windows client or HD300.

I noticed this too. The HD-PVR works fine in the latest V9 on Linux except the preview during the add source setup process doesn't produce any video, as sgx2 described. I just ignored that and continued with the setup steps and then the recorder works fine after it is configured. This was with an HD200 extender and I was also using Component+SPDIF.

Thanks for this, Troll. I followed your advice, and it appeared to be configured!

Now, I need to figure out what to do to make this instance a network encoder
