HDPVR and 64-bit Linux

Is anybody using the HD PVR with the 64-bit version of SageTV 9 on Linux?

I installed that yesterday and it was crashing when using the HDPVR...I found the issue (which makes no sense)...but wanted to see if anybody else was hitting it because it could have been some weird compiler issue.

I'm running 2 HDPVRs for many months... I get about 2-3 recordings a night.

What are you using for channel changes in x64 Linux?

I use a device called commandir, which is linux only piece of hardware and works quite well for multiple tuners. The problem is that it is no longer being made. I think some people are trying usb-uirt so I'm interested to know how that shakes out... and if you only have a single hdpvr, I think you can use the IR emitter for that device... the problem is when you have 2 HDPVRs, I don't think you can use the HDPVR's IR emitter.

I use Firewire...there's a plugin for it on Linux that's there by default. Works awesome with my FiOS boxes. Although the regulation for requiring providers to supply customers with Firewire boxes has lapsed I'm pretty sure...so it might not be that easy to get them anymore.

HTTP would be my desire but I don't know if it is possible for Linux like it is for Windows.

I use http to control my DirecTV STB's on my linux server. I use the GenericTunerPlugin and a perl script that I wrote.

I tried using the 64bit build several months ago, but it kept crashing when the HDPVRs would stop recording and also when it tried to call the GenericTunerPlugin. I thought I read somewhere that someone found the problem, but I don't know if the fix ever made it into the GIT repo.

Pretty sure that commit was long ago (Mar 9).

For what it's worth, I've got the usb-uirt working on 64-bit Debian 8 with a single HD-PVR.

I couldn't get the GenericTunerPlugin to work (it would proceed only until it called LoadRemoteKeys) so I updated and built a 64-bit version of the LIRCTuningPlugin from here:

https://github.com/google/sagetv/tre...RCTuningPlugin

My SageTV is built from commit 9a1d815 (20 Sep 16)
