SageTVservice - "error 1053 the service did not respond to the start......"
The Sagetvservice won't run. If I try to start it manually I get "error 1053 the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
Event Viewer shows event ID 7009 "a timeout was reached (30000 ms) while waiting for the sagetv service to connect" Sage v9 / Win 7 x64 / i3 / 6GB I did a fresh test install on my laptop just to check the files, then compared the problem files (Sagetvservice.exe and Sagetvservicecontrol.exe) to the new install, same versions. I copied over the new ones anyway just in case they'd been corrupted, same error. |

Worked fine with Sage V7, same machine, same account. Works on the laptop I did the test install on, I'm admin on both. I checked permissions, full control for SYSTEM, ADMINISTRATORS and USERS.

"Same user name and host name"
Yes. The issue has now resolved itself but I'm not sure what changed. I was researching that error, found reference to a registry setting to change the time out. That's when i realized the error was saying 30000 ms, which is 30 seconds. The error however was popping up immediately, within 1-2 seconds. Ok, the error is bogus, thought maybe I'm missing something, a dll or such. I did a compare of the directories on the laptop and the problem machine. That's when i noticed the "SageTVServiceControl" exe. "Hmm, what's that do?" I ran it, enabled the service through it, then hit "Start", same error. I rebooted the machine and boom, it worked. I got a scare when I started Sage because it went into it's setup routine. I was afraid I'd lose the channel mapping but after stepping through the setup my mapping was still there. I did the same install on both machines so not sure what was different. |
