Sagex question - turning on extenders
Can you use SageX to turn on an extender that is in standby mode?

Yes you can, I don't know the exact command but I do it via the TiSageTV app which I believe uses SageX. You can read about the API at https://github.com/stuckless/sagetv-...sing-sagex-api
You can also turn on the extenders via telneting into them and issueing a command (I can look that one up for you when I get home if you want).

I believe that TiSageTV uses SageTCPServer which was written by Fonceur.
If you could send that telnet info that would be useful as well.

Telnet into the extender, default port 23. The login name is root and there is no password.
Here are the following commands I know of: Power on the extender, if on, command does nothing killall waitpower Power off the extender killall miniclient Reboot the extender reboot

Thanks Will - do you know how to start the miniclient if it is in Standby mode but not currently on and connected to a server?
For bonus points - how about being able to connect to a different server than the one last used.

That's probably tougher - you'd need to find whatever file on the extender stores that info, change that file, then get the miniclient to restart.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I have found another method for HTTP control that works for those that have Harmony hub based remotes. If you install the Harmony API then you can use an HTTP POST command like "HTTP POST 192.168.1.50/hubs/kitchen/activities/sagetv" to start the Activity SageTV on your hub. You can also control specific devices as well as in "HTTP POST 192.168.1.50/hubs/kitchen/devices/sagehd300/commands/poweron". Using this method has the advantage of keeping your Harmony Hub aware of the state of your devices. You can also use MQTT rather than HTTP. Note that this won't work with older Harmony remotes - it requires the remotes that come with a Hub that connects into your wifi network. But those can be had for around $100 (or less on eBay) for the model with a simple remote with no LCD screen.

Going from memory. Didn't Slugger write a Global Helpers package that was an extension of the SageAPI that did a lot of these?
If I recall, did extender power on/off, change channels, and several other things |

You're right he did. I couldn't remember the name but it is Global Helpers. I asked at one time if they could be incorporated into the core API but I don't think that this ever happened.
