Roku scaler vs HD300 & Sigma?
This isn't a SageTV question, but my Sage peeps would know the answer!
How does the scaling and/or deinterlacing of the $49 Roku devices compare to our $150 Sage HD300 extenders (and Popcorn Hour, and any other Sigma SoC based box)?? I was thinking of breaking down and buying one for NetFlix and Plex duty, but I'd hate to sacrifice any quality. No one does those HQV tests in reviews any more. |

I'm fairly certain Roku's don't deinterlace, they generally only support H.264/H.265 which while they support interlaced content, it's almost never used. Netflix and streaming sources, to the best of my knowledge, never use, or support interlaced content.
Plex will have to transcode any interlaced/MPEG-2 for a Roku. |

How about the scaler? Banding, saturation, etc?

Can't say I've noticed it doing anything wrong. But I don't use mine much.
