Recording metadata

I use PlayOn to stream/record content from Netflix, Hulu, etc. Then, move that content into a SageTV import folder and use BMT to update the entry once Sage has found it so it shows up in the Recordings menu.

The issue we've had for a long time is the lack of recording properties (description, etc). Since this stuff is already stored (in) all of the recordings created by PlayOn, I don't understand why SageTV or BMT can't simply extract this out of the recording files. I suppose I could open Windows explorer, display the properties of the recording, then copy/paste, but surely either SageTV or BMT should be able to do this.

BMT was never written to pull metadata from the file like you are suggesting. I guess it could be added but can you not use BMT to retrieve the metadata from TVDB, TMDB etc?

K
