All my favorites in the list are missing!

They were there yesterday and prior and favorite shows were being recorded and were bolded in the recordings list and in the guide. Today a couple of the wifes shows didn't record. And when I checked the favorites area of the menu nothing was there. I back up the prop and wiz.bin file each night.
I assumed they are in the Wiz.Bin so I shut off the sagetv service, backed up the "bad" ones and copied yesterdays, and when that didn't restore them I did the same for two nights before both times overwriting the existing files. After restarting the service none of the recorded shows are bolded anymore nor are there entries in the Favorites list.

How do I determine what happened, is there something I should search for in those sagetv_?.txt files? I restored yesterdays as they seem to get recreated each time I stopped the started the service today while troubleshooting.

Where are those Favorite Entries stored if not in the Wiz.Bin File?

I didn't change anything recently. I did install BMT last November or December. I occasionally use it to add a downloaded show into the Recordings list. I don't use that for anything else.

If they are in the Wiz.bin as expected, what would be removing them each time I start up the SageTV Service as the favorites are not listed now that I have gone back a few days.. Is there a reader that allows me to read the Wiz.Bin file?

Is there a way to get my Favorites so I can re enter all that data? UGH.

What a freaking PIA. -Bill

Yes, favorites are stored in wiz.bin. They are in the 'agent' table.

I made this utility quite some time ago that runs on Windows or Linux that dumps wiz.bin into a DB format. From there you can check out the "INSERT INTO agent" lines to see what it would populate.

https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/sho...d.php?p=577768

It's a bit technical to use unless you are familiar with databases and SQL.

If they are stored in it, why would me restoring the wiz.bin from prior days not get them back? Is there something other than stopping the service thats required to copy the older one back in? -Bill

Ok, i tried that and it did nothing different, then I realized my Wiz.bin file was dated Feb 5 for all the backups since Feb 5. I copied over Feb 3 backup and my favorites are back. Something appears to have happened before the Feb 5 backup was made and about 1/2 of my favorites were missing. I just found Wiz.bin.corrupt0 thru Wiz.bin.corrupt6.. from the 5th around noon that day.

I see nothing that stands out as a problem, except lots of these:

[MsgMgrSocket@5fae6a95] ERROR Could not create server socket for msg receiver:java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind
Waiting to retry to open MsgManager server socket again…

Only change this year was installing the Name Time Recording plugin on Jan 21st, but that was 2 weeks prior to this happening.

Oh boy.

So now I have written a batch file that runs every six hours via task scheduler to check for any Wiz.bin.corrupt? files and send a text via Blat to my phone. Too bad there isn't something in Sage that would have warned us prior to my wife's soap not recording... it had been corrupt for 9 days before things started failing. Unfortunatly you "don't know" what you don't know. Are there other things I need to watch out for? Is there a list?

Here is the command I used:
IF EXIST C:"Program Files"\SageTV\SageTV\Wiz.bin.corrupt? Mailsend -to 5555551212@mms.cricketwireless.net -from Me@yourmailsendingplatform.net -ssl -port 465 -auth -smtp yourmailsendingplatform.net -sub "Corrupt Wiz Bin Detected" -cs "us-ascii" -enc-type "7bit" -M "Corrupt Wiz Bin on TV1 just detected Fix that" -user xxxx@xxx.net -pass xxxx
