Or go one better. Send Jeff your card. Then you'll get support for it sooner rather than later.

Yes the Sapphire model is IR based. I however am using the RF remote from ATI. I would be willing to send jeff my card if he would fix the software i still have my other machine working. Heck I will go you one better. I would be willing to buy jeff his own card to use if he would fix the software and let me have the software with no fees then when hes done with it i could sell it on ebay. Im not sure i could give up my card right now its so pretty.

A month later, and still not even a hint of when/if this card will be supported in Sage?

Don't hold your breath. Just buy beyond TV and support a company that cares enough/has the resources and time to do timely updates. If Sage can't keep a current product don't use it and let it die out.

What the heck is the point of the smart ass reply??

Look, Frey is a small company with a limited budget. As such they can only do as much as they can. There have been many a civil thread debating the merits of BeyondTV vs. SageTV and alot of people recognize the fact that Sage does care, easily as much if not more than BTV.

If it weren't for Frey pushing the envelope of what PVR software can do, then we'd all be stuck with some pathetic patchwork of a single tuner system. I've been a vocal critic about some of Sage's business decisions, but to imply that they don't "care" or do "timely" updates is simply foolish.

As for support for the card in question, they will get around to it. I have an unusual card config in my system that wasn't originally in Sage and after a little while there was support for it. I'd recommend to either be patient, or send them your card to 'entice' them to write in some support.

Whoa, that's a bit harsh. I have one and I'm disappointed that it's not supported too. But it also falls on ATI to support third party developers. Over at Hexus' forum (link), they have a couple of ATI reps. I've been trying to bug them into send their card, sdk, whatever is needed, to get Sage supported.

Good to hear, now we just need an ETA. I am anxiously awaiting support like most here. I was seriously thinking someone really would have buy and send a Theater 550 Pro card to Jeff.

Thumbs up

Are you in IT? If so, then you should know that no ETA exists for special requests on new hardware.

Typical evaluation of the hardware and drivers alone could take a while when you consider that existing support must continue.

Step back and wait for help. The "Is it done yet? Is it done yet?" method does not help anyone. If you get project status within a month, consider that fast. If you don't see project status until the third month, that would be still be great progress.

Be polite to those that do work that either you cannot do or that you do not fully understand.

***Updated 03/10/05***

Wow! Quick turn around by a company that really listens to its' customers. Frey Technologies deserves high praise for such a quick response to this request!

Does this post help: DLL to add initial ATI 550 support? I just posted that a couple minutes ago.

using it now!!!
it works!

only thing I'm noticing is it seems to change channels very slowly, and hang somtimes. I have to stop the viewing then select the new channel and watch it.

great job!

Other than the channel changing issue that setherd mentioned, it works great!

"Thanks" for making the Theatre 550 cards much more usable.

I have the channel changing issue as well, mostly hangs so I have to close the file and go to the guide to get another channel. I'm using the latest driver from ati.
