Talking ATSC closed captions working w/WinTV7 on HVR-1600!

Great news: the Hauppauge HVR-1600 with the new WinTV v7 supports closed captions! I'm using it right now with the latest beta of SageTV and your wonderful add-on!! It's functioning very smoothly. Had to do the rebuild of addons within SageTV, but that's all. It supports CC1 and CC2. Thank you so much for writing this add-on!!!!

Regards,
Natalie

Well, it appears Sage beta 6.5.13 plus the latest beta of the HD200 firmware now alleviates the need for this plugin. No need for DirMon2, CCextractor either. It works for live TV as well as subtitles within my MKV files.

Can anyone else confirm that everything works now within Sage without this plugin? I did not test every possibility.

I'd like to thank the author and everybody who contributed to this thread over the last year+

What about SageMC users...

What are SageMC users supposed to do for Clossd Captions support with beta 13 and newer? Do we need to load this import on top of sageMC and sageTV 6.5.13? I'm guessing this addon wont conflict with sageTV's builtin Closed Captions support?

Could you fill me in on how to attach CC files to mkv? All I can do at the moment is "burn" them into the video w/ Handbrake.

A link to the info would suffice. TIA.

Question MVP user and CC:

I have 3 HD100's and a good old MVP in use at my house.. and would like to use the CC data on the MVP..

What would be my best option to get this done?

I run the latest SageTV Beta and SageMC. I also use Dirmon and Comskip.

Thanks!

It doesn't show non-ansi characters like turkish. And also it doesn't care css information in the .smi file.

I just read all of the posts in this (long) thread, and realized that most of the questions I had asked were probably inappropriate.

There is still one question though, that does not seem to have been answered regarding the HD-PVR:

Is it possible to ext CC info from the H.264 .ts stream from the HD-PVR? This is a quote from the FAQ on their website:

Does the captured transport stream contain closed caption data?

No, currently none of the VBI is captured in the stream. This feature will be added some time in the future.
So, I'm sure no one knows, but just in case--Anyone have any idea when this 'feature' might be added?

Thanks!

sync issues on MVP

This works great if you don't skip or use comskip to skip commercials.. I find that if I play through it seems to stay in sync, but if I jump a block of commercials I start to fall off.. and after a couple skips it is more than a couple seconds off...

Is there any way to prevent this, other than watching the commercials??

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plugin with CCExtractor and MVP...

I am using CCExtractor to get the CC data out of my video files.. that is creating .smi files very nicely.. Since I'm using an MVP to playback my video, I assume I still need this plugin to make that visible... the problem is that when I skip a commericial via comskip's cutpoints, the sync between the CC text and the actual scene starts to rapidly disappear.

Is there anything I can do to keep the two in sync after commercial jumps?

Thanks!

Question AMG 2.0 issue is back again?

Hi JREkiwi, I just upgraded to the latest full release 1.22 from the Downloads webpage. It works great! However, it looks like the issue with AMG 2.0 is back. Maybe its possible you forgot to put the fix in to not break AMG. I have this ritual of always loading AMG 2.0 before Closed captions.

I'm using this addon under latest full release of sageMC. If I'm not mistaken the older versions of this plugin still lets AMG work right.

There are a few different versions Closed Caption Playback. Is there one that has a fix for this? If not, would it be possible to put that fix back in? I hope its not something I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance,
Michael
