Not on Windows (it might work on Linux but we haven't tested that yet)

Now, if Cablecard worked, I'd definitely be all over that .

I agree that clear QAM support is a must for these new cards coming out that can do it. If we can't get native support with SageTV maybe someone can develop a plugin using AverMedia's beta software that supports it. The application would only be needed for recordings. Playing back recordings should work already with SageTV. So just something to send the scheduled recording commands to the AverMedia's software would work. Maybe something so that Sage can read these recordings in the wiz.bin too.

The OnAirGT from Autumn Wave supports ClearQAM with SageTV on Windows currently. The HDHR is not the only option.

Plus the price tag for the OnAirGt is horrible. The Avermedia can be purchased for under $80. It gives a Analog and QAM/OTA ATSC. No other card for this price can do it, and the quality is pretty good. Like I've said in the past in other posts the two features I think that are missing are: ClearQAM support, and a Movies on Demand (Movielink, CinemaNow, and Netflix w/ WatchNow feature) If Sage had these two feartures SageTV would have a future in the post Vista-Cablecard. I just ordered one of these. Hoping for QAM support too. Pretty please
Also...am I correct to assume that this card cannot record NTSC/analog cable? or is that encompassed by "Worldwide Analog"? Last edited by ToxMox; 04-18-2007 at 07:33 AM. |

Is this still the only option besides the hdHomerun?

There is under Vista, but not XP as of 6.2. Apparently there is a problem with the driver that is prevents Sage from being able to get it to work under XP.

I will say it does seem to work best with Sage in non-service mode (it picked up like 4 channels in service mode, and the 8 channels in non-service, haven't tried the scan with it in service since, but am getting ready to do that now). Now if I could get them to make my PVR2000 Leadtek's in hardware mode, I'd be in great shape .

I got it to pickup quite a few channels under Vista. At the time I had the best luck with the .19 drivers and some additional files given to me by Qian. I believe you have these files now. Have you tried the newest beta .22 drivers? You can get them at the avermedia ftp site: ftp.aver.com user:beta pass:betatest They are in the .zip file along with the latest MCE QAM tool. I have been working with support on scanning under XP. With the beta drivers .20-.22, you can use Avermedia's Media Center software and tune into clearQAM channels. Sage just can't seem to tune into anything as of yet. But I have been assured it is being looked into, and will be kept updated. |

Qian spent a couple hours off and on my system earlier working on it until WAF was about to become an issue, but I think he's going to get back on Monday and see what he can figure out. Looks like Sage by default doesn't scan for QAM64 modulation, only QAM256. Still won't get the 64 stuff, but they are definitely looking to get this working .
