Watched and Delete Order

The "Watched" flag does two important things:

1. Keeps the show from getting recorded again.
2. Lowers the delete priority for the show. (So it will get deleted before unwatched shows.)

#2 has significantly lowered my DAF (Daughter Acceptance Factor ) since the new episode of Kim Possible was deleted mere hours after being recorded and watched because there were a bunch of unwatched rerun episodes sitting around. Normally she would have re-watched it for another week or more.

Yes, I know setting Archive or clearing Watched would have prevented the recording from being removed. Yes, I know I could have two Favorite options for the show, one for First Runs and one for Reruns. Yes, I really should watch more TV so my disk isn't filling up all the time.

But what I really want is an option to make the delete priority ignore the Watched status. That way, the oldest show would get deleted, period. (Assuming it was not a Manual Recording or a Favorite with Autodelete off.)

Is there any way to do this?

No, there is no option to change the deletion priority for watched shows.

I would suggest a Fav for only First Runs that has AutoDelete disabled... but it looks like you already know about that option. That's probably a good way though: let reruns come & go, while first runs stick around.

It sounds like you know this one too, but you could set the show to be a Manual Recording & it won't get deleted -- you can do that after it is recorded by using the Record command on the recording.

You could also do what I did a couple weeks ago... switched to three 500 GB drives & so far there are still 950 GB free... I'm having a hard time finding enough to record.

I've just got one 500G at the moment, but it's mostly filled with kid's shows. They would save everything if they could.
