Need advice on HDHomeRun Problems
I recently (when I upgraded to 6.2.10) moved from using the network encoder variant for the HDHomeRun to the BDA driver setup.
I am now having intermittent problems with tuning on the HDHomeRun. Sometimes I get a normal picture, other times I get a black screen and yet other times I get a normal picture but a messed up timeline that prevents proper playback. Since tuning sometimes works, does anyone have some pointers/findings that they can share on how to get this more reliable? Thanks in advance, DQ

My issue was different. I had one station that worked, but none of the rest. After trying a number of things, this is what did the trick for me.
1) Shutdown Sage 2) Shutdown the Sage Service 3) Shutdown the HD Homerun Manager 4) Open up the HD Homerun Setup 5) Click on the Support Tab 6) Click on "Reinstall" to reinstall the BDA drivers 7) Reboot 8) Make sure the HD Homerun Manager is running 9) Start Sage or the Sage Service. Note, I am assuming you have the latest firmware & HDHR software installed from Silicondust in addition to the full release of Sage 6.2 installed (not the 6.2.10 beta). Good luck to you! Unfortunately, my experience with this has been that things seem to be more tempramental than one would desire. Oh yeah, one other thing that may affect things (I am guessing) ... I am using Java 1.6.0_02. |

DualQuad,
Do direct or up/down Live TV channel changes work in Sage when tuning the HRDR? The reason I ask is that some users are having problems with the BDA driver remap numbers. The SiliconDust instructions have us using the x-x-x channel numbers. If you're having tuning problems, try remapping the physical channels using just the first x number of the x-x-x. Otherwise, you may want to check your signal levels. Low signals, or even too high (hot), can cause problems when the data stream gets interpreted by the HDHR box. This could be caused by too many signal splitters or a trashy signal amplifier. Another issue might be having old network encoder instructions still in place. |

Amen to that! There are times I've been tempted to just pay for the HD DVR box and be done with it. |
