Convert Feature and Format

Hello - I was wondering if I have a website, is there a format I can use to convert the mpeg2 videos in Sage so that I can put them on my website and then a user can just click on the link and play the video?

I don't understand why there isn't a WMV format and also what is PSP and Razr and AppleTV and Ipod/iPhone format?

Thanks,
Mike

The web server needs to be running streaming software. Is this one you built or space from a provider?

To be honest, its a lot easier to upload the vid to gvid/youtube(compressed to mpeg4 first to save upload time), and then embed their player in your site.

Platform independant, user friendly (for both you and your visitors) and has the added advantage that you use their bandwidth...

Gvid allows you to mark the video as non-searchable so that only people knowing the URL can play it.

Why not WMV? I assume that a couple of the reasons may include the fact that it is not a platform-independant format (Sage would have to encode WMV's on a MAC or Linux)...

To see what format each is, convert 1 second of video, then look at detailed info for each.

Alternatively, look in the properties file. it is not that readable, but you can use the following as a guide to decoding the lines in there.

psp high=320x240@216kbit xvid/24kbit mono AAC in a PSP file format
Razr high=176x144@172kbit mpeg4/7kbit mono AMR in an 3GP file format
AppleTV High=720x480@2.5Mbit h.264 / 128Kbit AAC in mp4 fie format.
Ipod High=512x384 @1.8Mbit mpeg4/128kbit AAC in an mp4 file format

(yes I know this should be clearer for the user than it currently is)
