Something I'd Really Love To See....
Group:
Forgive me for asking what may be a naive question. I don't have SageTV yet. I'm currently using two ReplayTV 5040s and DVArchive. For standard def, they do what I need. I want to build an HD DVR using an HTPC. And I'd like to use SageTV as the DVR client. How complex/difficult would it be to add support for recording using Black Magic Design's Intensity Pro card? rlowell

The Blackmagic thing comes up every couple of months here. Search the forum for "Blackmagic" to see previous discussions of it. Bottom line is that it's designed for high-bitrate professional video editing and is not practical for consumer-level DVR use.
However there are other viable ways of using Sage as an HD DVR, including OTA ATSC capture, cable STB Firewire capture, and R5000-HD cable/satellite capture. Search on any of those terms for more info.
