Something I'd Really Love To See....
Group:
Forgive me for asking what may be a naive question. I don't have SageTV yet. I'm currently using two ReplayTV 5040s and DVArchive. For standard def, they do what I need. I want to build an HD DVR using an HTPC. And I'd like to use SageTV as the DVR client. How complex/difficult would it be to add support for recording using Black Magic Design's Intensity Pro card? rlowell |

The Blackmagic thing comes up every couple of months here. Search the forum for "Blackmagic" to see previous discussions of it. Bottom line is that it's designed for high-bitrate professional video editing and is not practical for consumer-level DVR use.
However there are other viable ways of using Sage as an HD DVR, including OTA ATSC capture, cable STB Firewire capture, and R5000-HD cable/satellite capture. Search on any of those terms for more info.
