Will a Bridge work to make Extender wireless?

I was thinking of getting this:

Linksys Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...=9743339789B32

to make my extender wireless for my bedroom. I have a MVP non-wireless version and I'm probably going to get one of the new HD extenders (though I have no HD content currently). Will either/both of these extenders work wirelessly with the above product?
My router is a draft-N Lynksis, but I didn't see any draft-N bridges on the Lynksis website.

Thanks,
Michael

Don't count on being able to get smooth HD playback wirelessly. Even SD is iffy unless conditions are just right. My wireless SD client used to come to a halt every time I stuck a bag of popcorn in the microwave. I finally gave up and ran a wire to it.

If running Cat5 to your bedroom isn't practical, you might look at powerline Ethernet bridges. I don't have any hands-on experience with those, but I'm guessing they're less prone to dropouts and interference than wireless.

That's not a good guess. The powerline bridges have as many mixed reviews as wireless-G, especially in newer houses.

If Cat5's not practical, ethernet-over-coax may be a solution. There's also a thread in the extender forum on wireless-N bridges, some of which claim to work with any draft-N router.

If the HD extender works out for me, I'm going to buy another Airpot Extreme base station. The one that I already have and run in bridge mode works quite well.

D-Link has just started disabling bridge mode in some of their n-class routers, since they'd like to sell their over-prized n-class bridges. Well, the out-dated network hardware is piling up..

I had terrific success with the SMC EZconnect-N (SMCWEB-N). It can be configured as either a client or an AP. I used it with my MVP with zero problems. The price was right too. I ran some CAT5e when I got the HD Extender. I probably should hook it back up as a test since I'm sure others will be interested in a wireless solution.

Think that'll work with the dlink dir-655?

that seems similar to what i was considering, which is this combo:

trendnet wireless n router:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833156226

along with a trendnet wireless n access point:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833156053

would this combo work, or am i missing something?

I am currently using a Linksys WRT54G w/DDWRT opensauce firmware (upped transmitting power) w/the following directional antenna:
http://www.airlink101.com/products/asb-10da.html

and I get flawless SD playback, even from one end of the house to the other. HD may be possible.

-M

PS: I ran powerline bridges for 4 months...stay the hell away from those!! I still have flashbacks...

FWIW:

I hooked up my SMCWEB-N to the HD Extender and linked it withe the DIR-655 at the other end of the house. I have the DIR-655 locked in G mode because my son's ancient computer can't see the AP if N is enabled. Anyway, worked fine - even in G mode, playing HD recordings from the server. No skips, no drama.

Like I said, FWIW. n=1

See my previous post. Since it worked for me using G settings on N hardware, I would assume N would work at least as well.

makes sense, and i can stream 3 placeshifter/clients over my N network now (just tried it one time) without any problem. i just wanted to see if anyone has an hands on experience with N in specific.

HawgGuy, what is/was your source? cable/satellite or ATSC?

I just realized that my laptop has G wireless and I can stream to it OK, so N isn't soo important.....at least till I have HD content.

I like the airPort EXPRESS, but it looks like my router would have to be an airPort EXTREME for the EXPRESS to work in bridge mode.

The Linksys Wireless-G Bridge or SMCWEB-N
EZ Connect look like they'd work for me.

I've had bad luck with D-link products in the past, so don't want to go there.

Thanks for your input!
