Went into BB on the way home and got raped for an ATI2600XT, My old system ran an ATI9600pro without issue, so maybe it IS just Nvidia, lol
Anyway, going to fit the ATI tonight, instead of using the supplied disk, do I download and use that "modified" driver in the link?

I haven't found Vista playback to be dicey at all. I had been using PowerDVD 7 and had great playback on my X1950XT. I'm now using ATI's MPEG Decoder now that it's available for Vista x64. Seems to be working great. I don't have any complaints. I think one of the tricks to getting good playback in Vista is to turn VMR9 on and leave FSE turned off. That's how mine is set and I get perfect 1080i playback from my HDHR recordings.

The majority of posters here have had issues in Vista with stutter free playback. I think the ATI cards have fewer issues than Nvidia issues, but a lot of people are having problems with Vista playback.

This is getting stupid!
Swapped out the 8400GS which did not support the Nvidia HD codecs, in favour of an ATI2600XT. Twice the card in terms of horsepower.
Now the online stuff won't play at all, still get can't play back the recorded shows.
CPU use is still less than 13%
What the hell has sage done, lol
Going to check the windows HD demo stuff and see if that still plays(was fine on the Nvidia)

Edit, yep, HD still plays fine
So far I've dropped almost $400 on video cards, trying to find a setup that works! talk about pissed off!
Is there a simple answer as to why 6.xx is so much more finicky? than say V4 was my last running version, and it was so rock solid. Just don't understand why it's gone from a great piece of software to this.

Write to SageTV support and tell them to suggest you a display adapter that works for your system. They seem to be clueless to the extensiveness of this problem.

I'm sure they are aware of it, others seem to get on ok with both Nvidia or ATi.
I've got DVDs playing now(for some reason the audio decoder reverted to default) not that that should stop it working.
Playback seems better, but I have one program recorded by sage which I cant play.
I also ran sisandra to verify the system, it's purrrrring compared to my other rigs, even my gamming rig does not have this HP,lol
Are there any codecs like the purevideo codecs for ATI? can the purevideo codecs be run by ATi for that matter?

Edit.
Just downloaded some 1080 content to test, flicker free baby!
Not entirely sure what I've done at this point, lol, I'm going to start again in the morning, and see what made the difference.
