Wiz.bin being reset to empty?

I had a major crash yesterday morning on my server. Something went haywire in the early morning after an automatic Windows update and started writing over my C:\ drive's MFT. Trashed it bad enough that the disk refused to boot. chkdsk just made things worse when it tried to repair the MFT. I blame Bill.

Anyway, I luckily had a backup from two weeks ago from Retrospect and between that and a base TrueImage backup from a year ago I got things back up. Took most of the day to get new hardware and restore everything. Pain in the a$$.

So here's my question, the trashed drive did manage to have an intact Wiz.bin file. I tried to use it but my restored Sage server (6.3.7) kept resizing it down to 5K and starting from scratch. Now this Wiz.bin was built with 6.3.8, could that have something to do with it? For the time being, I'm using the Wiz.bin from the backup two weeks ago which stays intact, but now I have a two week hole in the data.

Any idea why this is happening? Do I need to match the Wiz.bin to the same Sage.properties file maybe?

Edit: I'll try turning on the log and see if that tells anything

Quite possibly -- try using that wiz.bin with v6.3.8, since that is the version used when it was created. In general, you can use a newer version of SageTV with an older database, but not always vice-versa.

Argh. well it appears the Wiz.bin was trashed in the crash based on the logs. Bummer. More frequent backups for me from now on!
