Sage & Windows Home Server, Audio but Black Screen

ok, i'm sure i'm missing something very obvious, but no matter what i'm trying i can't get SageTV to play live or recorded TV on my Windows home Server system. When i play live or recorded TV, i can hear the audio, but i get NO Video, just black screen.

I've tried all the Video Decoders, and even installed Nvidia's Purevideo thinking that might help, no dice. Using placeshifter on my laptop, i get video just fine...just dumbfounded why it won't work on the server.

I'm using an Nvidia 7600GS.

What am i missing???!?

I didn't think you could play anything directly on WHS, it's not meant to be used as a PC.

you should be able to...it's just essentially a modified Windows Server 2003 operating system. It can play music just fine :-)

You've got to do a lot of mucking to get anything to work on Server 2003 also. Just curious, why are you using WHS vs XP or Vista if you plan on using it as a normal PC?

i don't often, i use my laptop the majority of the time. but i wanted the whole backup & storage options of WHS.

but hey, good news, i FOUND THE SOLUTION!!! I can't believe i didn't try it before, but i installed FFDShow-tryout, and voila, picture on screen :-)

just goes to remind everyone, no matter how long you do this, even the most simple things can be forgotten
