HDMI out problem

I am having a strange problem with the HDMI video out on my HD extender. I have the extender connected to my Plasma with a HDMI to DVI cable. The video out is fine 95% of the time, but at random times while watching a recorded show the screen will blank, then flash -- it looks as if it is cycling on its own through the various output resolutions. It seems to jump from 1080p (which shows as "Not Supported" on my Plasma), then a distorted 1080i (which is barely supported), etc., until it reverts back to the resolution on which I have it set (480p). I would consider that someone might be using a remote in another room that is somehow cycling the resolutions on the HD Extender, except that it always ends up back on the correct resolution after it cycles through.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this (and, more important, how to fix it)?

Just to let you know, a lot of us had to stop using the HDMI port because of various issues. I had audio sync problems with the HDMI port.

My recommendation would be to use component out until a later firmware release.

But all in all, even without HDMI that extender rocks! I love it.

I was aware of the reports of HDMI problems, but most seem to be associated with efforts to get good 1080p output, and I am only looking for 480p (on an older plasma TV).

I searched but did not see anybody with a similar issue of the extender cycling through resolutions on its own, so I thought I would take a shot and post the question.
