Same here on the beta firmware. I then tried Talledega Nights, tsmuxed to TS file with only one AC3 audio track. video plays, no audio.

Hey guys, potentially very good news.

The 7/10 beta firmware that just came out looks to again, finally, play most MKVs fine.

Tested Ratatouille and National Treasure 2 and both play well, so expect that my Spidey 1,2,3 and FF will play fine.

National Treasure 1 (too many pause/skips) and Cloverfield (macro blocking and all kinds of pixelated mess) which don't play on Feb. firmware also don't play on latest beta, but at least they fixed whatever it was they'd broke.

yeah, i had problems with the cloverfield sample. how are you making your mkvs?

I've been watching blu-rays and hd-dvd on my extender since I got the hd extender a couple months ago. It works perfectly, it is very useful to just run optical to your receiver, and let the receiver's dac handle everything. otherwise only .h264 that is compatible with the extender works right.

How do you rip your movies? So your saying since im using HDMI for audio, my receiver is not decoding audio properly?

are you able to watch blu-ray rips (with no video conversion) on current (prior to 7/10) extender beta firmwares? That hasn't worked for anyone else that I've been able to confirm so far, though it was starting to look like there might be an audio issue, so your process (audio out to amp) might explain better luck. They do now work with the 7/10 beta firmware.

I convert all audio for these blu-ray rips to AC3 5.1 which the extender should be able to either output over optical or convert to stereo and send to the TV.

I think we are getting very close (once they work out the 6.4.5 issues with HDhomerun and QAM) to extender nivrana.

i got eac3to but need alittle guidance. i got a gui for it too. What is my goal. eac3to straight to MKV?

or do i eac3to to audio and then to video?

eac3 straight to mkv for video, can't go straight to mkv with audio.

then mkvmerge to put video mkv and audio file together.

I'd stick with command line to start as options exposed by gui are daunting.

Yeah, that's actually why I stuck with TS file format. So simple, my girlfriend now even knows how to do it using just TSmuxer and drag and drop to the videos folder.

Just did Cars Bluray. I ended up with a 19.4GB file with untouched video and AC3 5.1 audio track. Plays perfectly!!!!! Next up, i am gonna do Talledega Nights, then Invincible

Ohhh.. okay. I thought you meant for everyone. Yeah, it works perfectly on all discs on regular SageTV (not extender) using PowerDVD video decoder with hardware acceleration enabled for video and AC3 filter for audio (comes with sageTV).

Ok, got it. 300 doesnt work...very blocky. tried shooter, talledega nights, invincible, cars, and currently working on others. so far they work pretty good. they are mkv files with ac3 audio.

That is good news! I was hoping someone sould get a chance to try it over the weekend and report results. Thanks Deacon Crusher.

I still believe SageTV will get this all smoothed out.

Maybe because they are VC-1. These seem to present the most trouble for me.
