Odd squeaky audio after HD commercial skip on MVP

My wired MVP has worked great for two years. 6 months ago I added an HDHR to the mix, recording HD QAM. The MVP plays the transcoded shows just fine, but when I skip a commercial block, many times the audio becomes high-pitched squeaking instead of normal. I need to stop and restart the show and skip forward and backward a bit to get normal audio back. Just using the skip forward buttons avoids the problem, although I am having some lip-sync issues with that.

Any ideas?

Yeah, this has been a problem for a while. Doesn't always happen - depends on the source signal (NBC is worst for me, then CBS)... trips up the transcoder for some reason. If you know you are going to play it on an MVP, you can compress it in advance and it fixes the problem. Otherwise jump forward/back seems to fix the problem.

I use an HD-5500 tuner to record HD and play it back to an SD TV using the mediaMVP. I have the same audio issues with MVP playback and currently use the forward/back procedure as a work around. How do you "compress it in advance" per the previous post?

In SageMC (not sure about default), click on the show you want to compress and select "send to...". One of the options is Compress, and then you can specify the format/quality to compress to.
